Kathmandu: Literary writer Gopi Sapkota has come up with his novel ‘Chiso Baaf’. Amidst a programme at Mandala Theater in the capital today, Madan Puruskar laureate Amar Neupane, critic duo Gyanu Adhikari and Deepak Sapkota and author Sapkota jointly launched the novel.
The novel, published by Kamana Books, is experimental in writing style and content itself. It narrates the story of love and relations between a girl with deteriorating physical condition and a boy with worsening mental health.
Among the themes of the novel are bewilderment of life rhythm resulted in from entanglement of threads of mind and broken coordination of life with the snapping of the thread somewhere. Rendering comment on the book, Neupane said the author has attempted to discover novelty in the piece. “It has showcased how to write novel rather than what to write. So, it is an experimental literary piece presenting very complicated theme in a lucid style”.
Critic Adhikari and Sapkota commented that the piece has broken the tradition of fiction writing through unique style of characterization and presentation.
Author Sapkota noted, “The novel is an attempt to unleash unexplored issues of human life departing from repeated presentation of social and political content”. He said he wanted to write something different than what others are writing in Nepal. This novel he claimed is a manifestation of something different in Nepali novel writing.
The author has a dozen of literary writings in diverse genres to his credit.
