Lumbini: The Lumbini Buddhist University has adopted the policy of putting the university vicinity in the Panchsheel, five principles of peaceful coexistence.
The 14th senate meeting of the University took a decision in this regard. It also stressed the need for following the Buddha’s message of peace, compassion and love for all living beings. It is mandatory to chant Buddha Vandana and put Buddha statues put before any formal assemblies and meetings under the University begin. The University Executive Council meeting took a decision to this effect.
This initiative means to protect and conserve Buddhist philosophy, culture and art as per the purpose of the establishment of the University, said the University.
The Buddha Vandana chanting is mandatory for all bodies under the University and in any assemblies or meeting organised in collaboration and cooperation with the University, it has been said. The University council meeting was chaired by its registrar Dr Tilak Ram Acharya. The University offers Bachelor’s and Master’s classes on Buddhist philosophy.
