FNJ condemns threat against journalist
Kathmandu: Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has demanded identify and book the guilty party involved in threatening journalist Chandani Acharya over the news content.
The umbrella organization of journalists condemned the incident of threat and harassment to Kailali correspondent of Gorkhapatra daily and former vice-chairperson of FNJ Sudurpaschim province committee, Acharya, over the news.
Acharya had been facing mental torture, threat and administrative hassles for covering the news related to loan sharks. According to the FNJ, Acharya was repeatedly harassed and threatened by a group of loan sharks when her story entitled ‘A village ended up in the burden of interest’ was widely covered by national media.
“The task of threatening and torturing journalist is condemnable anti-press incident”, stated the press release issued by FNJ. FNJ has called for the authorities concerned to identify the guilty and bring those involved in such anti-press freedom incident to book and ensure safety of the journalists.
