Kathmandu: The CPN (UML) finalized the names of 34 members of House of Representatives (HoR) under the proportional representation (PR) system.
A meeting of the UML’s secretariat held at party’s central office this afternoon selected 34 HoR members under the PR and 91 members of all seven province assemblies.
According to UML publicity department chief Prithvi Subba Gurung, 22 women and 12 men candidates have been selected as the HoR members.
He shared that Devi Prasad Bhattachan, Hemraj Rai and Kalu Ram Rai have been named under the men’s category of indigenous/nationalities while Naina Kala Thapamagar, Surya Kumari Shrestha, Urmila Thebe, Ishwori Gharti, Rana Kumari Balampaki Magar, Shanti Shrestha and Sarswati Subba are under women’s category.
Likewise, Raghuji Panta and Eknath Dhakal have been named under the men’s category of Khas/Arya while Dayal Bahadur Shahi is from backward region.
Likewise, Menuka Kumari Pokharel, Sarita Bhusal, Shova Gyawali, Bijula Rayamajhi, Nirmala Koirala, Samjhana Thapaliya, Dipa Sharma and Sunita Baral have been selected under the women’s category.
Gurung said that Ashma Kumari Chaudhary and Shanti Chaudhary are under the Tharu women’s category.
From Dalit men’s category, Ishwar Bahadur Rijal, Pravu Hajara Paswan and Chandra Bahadur Bishwakarma have been selected and Rukmani Rana Barayili and Harkamaya Bishwakarma are from under Dalit women’s category.
Gurung shared that Ganga Prasad Yadav and Amrit Raj Lalbanshi have been named under Madhesi men’s category.
Other HoR members under PR selected from UML include Bina Devi, Amrita Devi Agrahari, Pratikshya Tiwari Mukiya and Saraj Ahammad Faraqi, the party’s publicity department chief said.
