Biratnagar: Chief Minister of Koshi Province Hikmat Kumar Karki has extended best wishes to all Nepali indigenous communities at home and abroad on the occasion of the 30th International Day of the World Indigenous Peoples.
In a message today, Chief Minister Karki said this day would help ensure success in the campaigns of implementing and strengthening the democratic republic and the rights of the people. He said that the indigenous people have been living in the Koshi province for centuries and the indigenous people have played instrumental roles in Nepal’s democratic movement, the Chief Minister said.
The languages, cultures, traditions and rites of indigenous nationalities have enriched the Koshi Province, Karki stated in his statement.
Likewise, the Chief Minister has stated that Khuwalung and Mangsebung, and other holy places in the province were the invaluable treasures there and the government was making efforts to further protect and solidify their identities along with the languages, cultures and traditions of the indigenous communities.
The United Nations (UN) started to observe the International Day of the World Indigenous Peoples since 1994.
