Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli emphasized that the promotion of Sanskrit education will play a pivotal role in building a more advanced and prosperous Nepal.
In his address to the 77th Senate of the Nepal Sanskrit University (NSU) held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar today, Prime Minister Oli, who is also the Chancellor of the University, stated that Sanskrit education has made a significant contribution to the development of society. He stressed the need to integrate it with modern science, promising the government’s support for its conservation and research. “Sanskrit education is the foundation for the development of modern education.”
The Prime Minister also acknowledged the role of Sanskrit education in promoting political awareness within society. He said the University would take steps to protect its physical and land properties. Minister for Education, Science, and Technology, and University Pro Chancellor Bidhya Bhattarai, called for making higher education competitive, production-based, and research-driven, in line with the National Education Policy, 2076 BS.
The newly elected Vice Chancellor of the University, Pro Dr. Dhaneshwor Nepal, pledged to advance Sanskrit literature while preserving its original essence. The Senate also approved the University’s education calendar for the fiscal year 2081-82 BS, along with its proposed income and expenditures.
