PM Oli gets customary invite to National Jyapu Day Programme

Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has been extended with the ‘Gway Dan Tayegu Jwaiba’ or the customary invitation to the 21st National Jyapu Day Programme.

A team of around 100 people, including federal lawmaker Krishna Gopal Shrestha, Jyapu Culture Development Fund chairman Mangal Krishna Maharjan, among others, amidst the playing of the traditional Newari music, offered ‘sagun (auspicious food items)’ to PM Oli as an invitation to attend the National Jyapu Day function as the Chief Guest.

The Jyapu Day and Yomari Punhi are being celebrated on December 15 this year. The main programme will be held along with a rally at Basantapur on Kathmandu. The Jyapu Talent Prize will also be presented on the occasion.

Accepting the customary invitation, Prime Minister Oli described the Newari culture as the unique, rich and refined way of life carrying history. He stressed on the need of promoting and conserving this culture.

He also gave assurances that the government will support in increasing the fund of the reserve fund of the Jyapu Guthi.
