Kathmandu: Flights have been generally affected due to inclement weather today. The domestic flights have been affected at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu due to bad weather.
Although flights operated according to the visual flight rules (VFR) have been taking place at the Kathmandu Airport, the flights in Biratnagar, Simara and other places, the destinations out of Kathmandu Valley, have been generally affected.
Airport spokesperson Rinji Sherpa said that two flights have been diverted as the ‘en route weather’ turned inclement. A plane belonging to Yeti Airlines which flew for Simara had to return to Kathmandu after reaching the Simara sky as it could not land. Yeti Airlines’ next flight to Biratnagar also returned to Kathmandu after the en route weather turned bad.
The airlines have said no mountain flights were conducted today due to the bad weather. However, international flights have been operating normally, Sherpa, the spokesperson, said.
