Sudurpaschim Province Assembly session summoned for August 11

Sudurpaschim: The Chief of Sudurpaschim Province, Nazir Miya, has summoned the fifth session of the Province Assembly (PA) for 2:00 pm on August 10.

According to the PA Secretariat, the session was summoned by the Province Chief, on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers, in accordance with Article 183(1) of the Constitution. The Sudurpaschim government prorogued the fourth session two days back and introduced an ordinance on revenue collection on Thursday which was authenticated by the Province Chef the same day. With the ordinance coming into force, the revenue collection at the province level that was hampered in the absence of the passage of the budget for the current fiscal have begun.

The budget for the fiscal year 2081-82 BS that was presented before the PA on June 15 could not be passed with the government led by then Chief Minister Dirgha Bahadur Sodari falling into the minority following a change in the political equation at the federal level. Though resumption of the tax collection, the budget holiday continues.

The Chief Minister has prepared to proceed with the necessary actions for passing the budget after seeing a vote of confidence in the PA. The 53-member Sudurpaschim PA consists of 18 members from the Nepali Congress followed by 11 of CPN (UML), 10 of CPN (Maoist Centre) except the Speaker, seven of the People’s Freedom Party (Nagarik Unmukti), four of the CPN (Unified Socialist) one of Rastriya Prajatantra Party and one independent.
