Police confiscate 712 sacks of chemical fertilizer

Birgunj: The Parsa District Police has confiscated 712 sacks of chemical fertilizer worth Rs one million. The urea fertilizer was brought illegally from India.

The colourless crystalline substance was found imported by evading customs and kept hidden in a store. Each sack weighed 50kg, according to Dipak Bharati, Deputy Superintendent of Police. The police acted on a tip off.

The police also apprehended 62-year-old Gyan Bahadur Mahato from Kawasoti municipality-9 of Nawalparasi for his involvement in the illegal supply of chemical fertilizer. Legal action has been initiated against him.

Similarly, the confiscated fertilizer was handed over to the Customs Office, Birgunj on Friday.
