Kathmandu: The ‘Mountain Queen: The Summits of Lhakpa Sherpa’ is set to have its world premiere at the 48th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
This is yet another Nepali story that has been selected in a prestigious international film festival after ‘The Red Suitcase’ that made it to the Venice Film Festival this year.
The ‘Mountain Queen: the Summits of Lhakpa Sherpa’ is based on the life and times of renowned female mountain climber, Lhakpa Sherpa, who scaled the highest mountain in the world- Mt Everest- (Sagarmatha) for the record ten times in 2022.
Directed by Lucy Walker, the film documents the ‘remarkable’ life of the 49-year-old mother of three besides narrating her mountaineering feat. The 48th edition of TIFF is scheduled from September 7 to 17 in Canada.
