Province No. 1 to elect Deputy Speaker today

Biratnagar: The election to the Deputy Speaker of the Province Assembly is taking place today in the Province No. 1.
Secretary at the Province Assembly Secretariat Gopal Prasad Parajuli said that Lila Kumari Rai of Nepali Congress and Srijana Danuwar of CPN (UML) have fielded their candidacies for the post of Deputy Speaker.
A meeting of the Province Assembly to start at 11:00 am this morning would begin the process for the election to the Deputy Speaker.
In the 93-member Assembly in Province No. 1, opposition NC has 29 lawmakers, while UML 40, Maoist Centre 13, RPP six, CPN (Unified Socialist) four and Janata Samajwadi Party one.
