Lumbini: Chief of Lumbini Province Amik Sherchan has today called upon the parties to submit their claims for the formation of a new government in Lumbini Province.
According to a notice issued by his Office, parties have been given a deadline of seven days to submit their claim for leadership of the new government, along with support of the majority of the members of the Provincial Assembly, in accordance with Article 168 of the Constitution.
The member of the Provincial Assembly, who can get a majority with the support of two or more parties represented in the Provincial Assembly, has been invited to submit claim for the post of the Chief Minister of Lumbini Province by 4:00 pm on Wednesday, 11 January.
Lumbini has 87 provincial assembly members and hence the support of 44 members is required to form the government. The CPN (UML) has the highest number of members with 29 followed by Nepali Congress that has 27 while nine are from CPN (Maoist Centre), four each from Nagarik Unmukti Party and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), three each from Janamat Party, Loktantrik Samajbadi Party and Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP), CPN (Unified Samajwadi), one each from the Rastriya Janamorcha and three independent members.
