Nepal: Demonstration against the decision of the Kathmandu Metropolitancity to construct an underground parking at Khulla Manch
Kathmandu: After the Kathmandu Metropolitan City decided to build underground parking at ‘Khulla Manch’, there was a protest aganist it today. On Monday, “Occupy Tundikhel” protested in front of the office of the Metropolitan Municipality.
Local residents and conservationists protested that the historical and archaeological significance of the open forum should not be turned as a parking lot.
The campaign has also submitted a memorandum to Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol saying that underground parking should not be built in Tundikhel.
While accepting the memorandum, Deputy Mayor Dangol said that the work will be carried forward only after taking the necessary suggestions of the local residents about whether underground parking is necessary in Tundikhel or not.
