Kathmandu: The Federal Parliament Secretariat has suspended Tek Bahadur Gurung, the MP elected from Manang.
The secretariat issued a notice on Tuesday and said that Gurung’s position as MP has been suspended after a letter was received from the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority Investigation Commission (CIAA).
The Federal Parliament Secretariat had received the letter from CIAA on December 23, whereby it said a case involving Member of the House of Representatives, Tek Bahadur Gurung, was pending at the special court and hence his post would be suspended until it was finally settled.
A case of corruption was filed against Gurung by the CIAA on Magh 21, 2075 B.S., and it is under consideration at the special court. Pursuant to Section 36 of the Corruption Prevention Act, 2059 B.S, a person accused of corruption cannot hold public office and thereby Gurung has been suspended.
