Kathmandu: Prof Dr Kapil Man Shrestha and the Manav Sewa Ashram based in Kathmandu have won the ‘Human Rights Award-2079’.
Dr Shrestha was honoured with the award for his studies, research, teaching, writings, publications, advocacy and protection of human rights, said the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
Similarly, the Ashram was awarded for rescuing, providing treatment, counseling and taking care of orphans and abandoned people. For the honour, a human rights award revolving a fund was established in 2078 BS on the occasion of the issuance of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the Government of Nepal. Any individual and organisation working in the sector of human rights is given the award.
