Dhanusha: The Jayanagar-Janakpurdham-Kurtha railway service is operating additional service today and tomorrow.
Nepal Railway Company decided to run more trips on November 8 and 9 for the convenience of devotees arriving to take holy bath in the Kamala river on the occasion of Kartik Poornima. A large number of devotees from Nepal and India come to take holy dips in the river on this occasion.
Managing Director of the Company, Niranjan Kumar Jha, said, “We have taken this decision for the facility of the passengers.” The railway service has been operated since April 3, 2022 on the 35 kilometres Jayanagar-Kurtha section of the 70-kilometre rail service from Jayanagar to Bardibas of Mahottari district. The locals are confident that the number of religious tourists would go up with the operation of railway service and the export of local products will be boosted.
The railway stations have been fixed at Kurtha, Parwaha, Baidehi, Mahinathpur, Khjuri, Inrwa and Jayanagar. Twenty-six Indian and 59 Nepai employees are employed for the operation of the railway service at present. The Indian employees include mostly the train crew and some engineers, managing director Jha said.
