Four people, including former mayor Lamichhane who attacked journalist Simkhada, have been absconding for 8 days
Chitwan : The four persons, including Deepak Lamichhane, father of the former mayor of Kalika municipality, Khumnarayan Shrestha (Gopi), who attacked journalist Shishir Simkhada, have been absconding for 8 days. Although the Chitwan police said that the search operation is going on, they have not been arrested.
Former mayor Shrestha, Kalika-6, Kholesimal of PA Lamichhane, along with his brother Dilip Lamichhane and Kalika-5, Sameer Sapkota of Padampur and Nikesh Nepal of Ratnanagar-5, Jhuwani, Tarauli are absconding. Sapkota and Nepal are cousins of Lamichhane.
Former Mayor Shrestha had planned to attack to call at his house in Shaktikhor-9 at 9 o’clock the night before the incident. All four of them were waiting on the way to and fro in the morning and made a fatal attack.
Sawan 31st, news was published in more than a dozen media outlets, including those in Kathmandu, Chitwan, under the title ‘Re-complaint to the authority against outgoing mayor Shrestha and PA Lamichhane of Kalika municipality for corruption of more than 250 million’. The news was also published by Kalika Dainik Online of Chitwan citing the source.
For writing that news, 4 people including Lamichhane threatened to kill the journalist Simkhada and physically assaulted him.
The news that a complaint was filed against the then Mayor Shrestha and Lamichhane on allegations of corruption worth crores was published.
Meanwhile, journalist Simkha has filed a criminal case against the four people involved in the incident at District Police Office Chitwan on Wednesday, Bhadra 1st. In the Rohwar of Nepal Journalist Federation Chitwan and other affiliated organizations of journalists, journalist Sinkhada Lamichhane along with his brother Dilip Lamichhane and nephews Samir Sapkota and Nikesh Nepal have filed a Kitani case. They hit the journalist Sinkhada with a motorcycle helmet.
Regarding the attack on journalist Shishir Sinkha of Chitwan, the Federation of Nepalese Journalists and other organizations associated with journalists have condemned the incident, slandered the incident and demanded legal action to arrest the culprits.
Journalist Sinkhada is a member of Radio and Television Coordination Department of Nepal Journalist Federation Central Committee, member of Nepal Journalist Federation Chitwan, central member of Press Chautari Nepal and co-in-charge of Bagmati Province, Chitwan reporter of Radio Nepal and editor-in-chief of Kalika Dainik Online.
Former mayor Shrestha UML is a member of Bagmati province and PA Lamichhane is the vice-chairman of the Kalika city committee.
